Abstract
The aim study was aimed at the assessing the level of iron (Fe) in chickens and rats organs (liver,
kidney, and heart). From various areas including Zaria, Kaduna State, Nigeria and Sokoto
metropolis. The concentration of iron (Fe) was determined by Method of Atomic Absorption
Spectrophotometer (AAS). The concentration of iron in The liver had the highest iron content in
both rats (4.8± 0.06ppm) and chickens (4.6 ± 0.08ppm), followed by the kidney in both species,
with higher level in rats (2.7 ± 0.25ppm) than in chickens (2.1 ± 0.34ppm). The heart has the
lowest iron content in both species, with higher level in rats (1.6 ± 0.03ppm) than in chickens
(1.4 ± 0.33ppm). The results showed significant differences among various tissues (p˂0.05). The
concentration of iron in liver, kidney and heart of chickens is lower than the liver, heart and
kidney of rats.
