Abstract
This study examines the rhetorical function of metaphor in Ahmad Amin Auwal’s Nabdatul Al-Qalb anthology, focusing on how figurative language enriches the thematic and emotional depth of the poems. Using a qualitative and descriptive approach, selected poems from the anthology are analyzed to identify various types of metaphors—spiritual, emotional, natural, and intellectual—and to determine their rhetorical impact. The analysis reveals that Auwal employs metaphor not merely as an ornamental device but as a powerful tool for persuasion, reflection, and emotional expression. His metaphors convey profound spiritual devotion, human experience, and intellectual insight, drawing on both Arabic and Hausa poetic traditions. The study concludes that metaphor serves as a vital rhetorical strategy in Nabdatul Al-Qalb, enhancing the aesthetic beauty and communicative effectiveness of the anthology.
