Abstract
Data de-duplication is becoming an increasingly important requirement for cloud
storage providers due to the constant and exponential growth in both user numbers
and the volume of their data. Cloud providers drastically cut their storage and data
transport costs by retaining a unique copy of duplicate data. In this project, a general
overview of cloud computing, cloud file services, accessibility, and storage is given. In
this project, a general overview of cloud computing, cloud file services, accessibility,
and storage is given. In order to assist both cloud service providers and cloud
customers, it also takes into account storage optimization through de-duplication
research of the current data de-duplication strategies, procedures, and
implementations. By computing the files' digests, which takes less time than other
previously-implemented approaches, the project also suggests an effective method for
locating and deleting duplicates using file checksum algorithms.
