Abstract
This study assesses the usage of OSPOLY Campus FM as a tool for educational advancement in Nigerian tertiary institutions, using Osun State Polytechnic. Campus radio stations have emerged as vital platforms for disseminating educational content, fostering communication between institutions and students, and enhancing learning outside traditional classroom settings. The research explores the extent to which students and staff utilize OSPOLY Campus FM for academic purposes, the types of educational programmes aired, and the perceived impact on students' academic performance and general awareness. Using a mixed-method approach involving surveys and interviews with students, lecturers, and station personnel, the study identifies the strengths and limitations of campus radio as an educational medium.
Findings reveal that while OSPOLY Campus FM plays a significant role in promoting educational content and addressing student concerns, its impact is constrained by issues such as limited programming hours, inadequate funding, and poor student involvement in content production. The study recommends increased investment in campus radio infrastructure,
integration of academic departments in content development, and greater student
participation to maximize the educational potential of campus broadcasting in Nigerian tertiary institutions.
