The Effect of Employee Motivation on Financial Reporting and Bank Performance in Nigeria

Abstract
ABSTRACT
This study investigated the effect of employee motivation on profitability of deposir money banks in
Nigeria (using United Bank for Africa Ple as a case study). Data was obtained using primary data
and secondary data. The data was analyzed with linear regression equation and the result showed a
strong correlation berween staff motivation and profitability. The implication is that as motivation of
staff is increased by management of banks, the expected profitability will grow to make ruch buni
unique among others. This was observed in United Bank for Africa Bank judging by its performance
measured by the profitability. The study therefore recommended that management of banks should
make the welfare of their banks a priority. It was concluded that staff motivation (welfare) is an
indispensable instrument to profitability of banks in Nigeria.
