Influence of Childhood Trauma and Social Support on Quality of Life Amongst Undergraduates in Selected Western Nigerian University

Abstract
This study ascertained the prevalence of childhood trauma and social support on the quality of life among students. The study specifically examined the prevalence of child hood trauma amongst undergraduate in western Nigeria universities, examined the level of social support available to undergraduate in selected western Nigeria universities and explores the moderate effect of social support on the relationship between child hoof trauma and quality of life among undergraduate in selected western Nigeria universities.
A total of two hundred (200) undergraduates in Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye. These students were selected from different departments and academic level using random sampling technique. A questionnaire was used to obtain responses from the students, and the responses were coded and analyzed using Descriptive Statistics (Percentage) and Regression method of analysis.
Findings revealed that social support moderated the relationship between childhood trauma and quality of life outcome among undergraduate in selected western universities.
Based on the outcome of the study, it was recommended that parents and guardians should give adequate support to their children with every necessary things needed while in the university. Finally, to prevent the effect of childhood trauma among students, professional counselors should be hired by elementary, secondary, and university educational institutions in order to counsel and advise the students.
