Abstract
This study, titled Influence of School Environment on Academic Performance of Biology Students in Ado Local Government, Ekiti State, investigates how various environmental factors affect students' achievement in biology. Grounded in the understanding that education thrives within conducive physical, social, and psychological settings, the research explores how elements like school infrastructure, teacher competence, parental support, and resource availability shape academic outcomes. Using a descriptive survey design, the study targeted secondary school students within Ado LGA, employing structured questionnaires to gather data. Results revealed a significant but weak negative correlation between parents’ educational level and students’ performance in biology, highlighting disparities in access to educational support and facilities. The discussion emphasized the role of home and school environments, including libraries and classroom conditions, in shaping students’ attitudes and learning outcomes. The study concluded that inadequate infrastructure, poor teaching resources, and lack of motivation hinder effective learning, and recommended that government and stakeholders implement strategic policies to enrich school environments and improve academic performance.
