Abstract
The study aimed at isolating and identifying bacterial species present in poultry droppings collected from selected poultry farms. Poultry waste, particularly droppings, can serve as a reservoir for various pathogenic and non-pathogenic microorganisms that pose significant public health and environmental concerns. Samples of poultry droppings were aseptically collected from different poultry farms and subjected to standard microbiological procedures including serial dilution, culturing on selective and differential media, and biochemical characterization for bacterial identification. The results revealed the presence of various bacterial species including Escherichia coli, Salmonella species ., Staphylococcus aureus, and Proteus species . These bacteria are known to be potential pathogens and can contribute to the spread of zoonotic diseases if not properly managed. The findings highlight the need for improved hygiene and waste management practices in poultry farms to minimize bacterial contamination and its associated risks to both poultry health and human populations.
