Abstract
Diabetes and hyperlipidemia are prevalent metabolic disorders that contribute significantly to global health burdens. The search for effective, natural therapeutic agents has gained attention due to their potential in managing these conditions. This study investigates the antidiabetic and antihyperlipidemic effects of J. tanjorensis methanol extract in diabetic D. melanogaster. Diabetes was induced in flies through a 30% high sucrose diet (HSD), and the effects of different interventions—extract diet (ED), metformin diet (MD), and HSD—on various physiological and biochemical parameters were assessed. Before treatment, the HSD group showed significant increases in glucose and body weight, with no difference in locomotor performance. After the intervention, glucose levels decreased significantly in both ED(P
