Abstract
ABSTRACTThe temperature monitored electric electrode baking oven is designed for industrial and domestic use. It contains of inner and outer wall lagged with fiberglass, it uses heating element to heat up the inner chamber. Operation of the oven is controlled by a temperature monitoring device which incorporates the safety features and control the switching of the electrode baking oven. The temperature monitoring devices is made up of power switch, contactor, thermocouple, contactor and the wiring for the proper operation. The oven calibration and testing was carried out in order to ensure the functionality of the oven after which drying experiment was done using fifteen E7018 electrodes for each of the experiment batches at temperature 1500C, 2000C and 2500C each dried for one hour. The moisture content for the first, second and the third experiments are 0.782%, 0.840% and 0.957% respectively while the overall performance of the oven is calculated as follow:Overall efficiency = 0.782 + 0.840 + 0.957 × 1003 Overall efficiency = 86%This is the overall efficiency of the oven which is high enough for industrial and domestic use.
