Abstract
The aim of this study is to evaluate the anti-oxidative effect of Gongronema latifolium ethanol leave extract on testosterone propionate induced-benign prostate hyperplasia in male Wister rats. A total of twenty eight (28) mature male wister rats weighing between200-300g were grouped into four (4) with seven (7) rats each. Group I serve as normal control and received 0.4ml of distilled water. GroupII served as the BPH control group. Group II to IV animals received subcutaneous injection of 3mg/kg testosterone for twoweeks, after which group III were treated with gongronema latifolium (150mg/kg body weight). Group IV: BPH rats were treated with5mg/70kg finasteride (standard drug for treatment of Benign ProstateHyperplasia) for four weeks.
