Abstract
This descriptive survey research investigated the effectiveness of single and dual instructional media on early literacy development in private and public primary schools in Afijio Local Government Area, Oyo State. A questionnaire was administered to 50 randomly selected teachers from five primary schools. The results revealed a significant positive impact of dual instructional media on early literacy development, whereas single instructional medium showed no significant correlation. The study identified challenges faced by teachers and pupils, including inadequate resources and lack of interest. The findings suggested that dual instructional media enhances pupils' engagement and understanding, leading to improved literacy skills. The study recommended teacher training, resource provision, and policy support for effective implementation of dual instructional media. The results contributed to the growing body of research advocating for innovative and evidence-based instructional practices to support young learners' literacy development.
