Abstract
Hematoxylin remains the most widely used stain in histology, primarily for nuclear counterstaining despite advances in molecular methods. This study compares Cole’s, Ehrlich’s, Gill’s, and Harris’ hematoxylins on breast cancer tissues, using six blocks to produce 24 slides (six per stain). Results show Ehrlich’s and Cole’s yielding brilliant staining, ideal for histological analysis, while Gill’s was average and Harris’ poor, making the latter two unsuitable for breast cancer tissues.
