Mobile Banking and Performance of Banks in Nigeria

Abstract
The study empirically examined the effects of Electronic-payment system on the efficiency of banks in Nigeria. The objectives of the study are to examine the impact of electronic payment system on return on asset and return on equity.Secondary sources of data was extracted using statistical bulletin of Central Bank of Nigeria and annual report of Zenith bank plc. The study made use of ordinary least squares regression technique for its regression analysis. Based on the analysis, the following findings revealed thus; electronic payment system has significant impact on the return on assets and return on equity. It was recommended among others that The government should place high emphasis on technology and internet infrastructure in order to make access to these e-payment channels easier and cheaper for the population.
