Abstract
ABSTRACT This study dives into how effects of nonlinearity can be reduced in a Dc shunt motor. Dc shunt motors are widely used for domestic, commercial and industrial purposes because of their efficiency, reliability and low power consumption. But the effects of nonlinearity can reduce their performance and efficiency. PID controllers are a popular way of controlling motor speed and position. This study shows a nonlinear PID controller provides a better control of the motor. A system was designed which was controlled using a NPID controller and was tested using MATLAB simulink. The simulation results shows that the NPID controller can effectively reduce the impact of nonlinearity in the motor which makes it a good solution for improving the motor performance.
