Abstract
Leadership plays a crucial role in shaping employee performance and overall organizational success. This study examines the impact of different leadership styles: transactional, autocratic, and democratic on employee performance at Berger Paints Nigeria Plc, Benin City. Using a descriptive survey research design, data were collected from 100 employees through structured questionnaires and analyzed using multiple regression analysis. Findings reveal that democratic leadership has the most significant positive impact on employee performance, fostering collaboration, transparency, and employee engagement. Transactional leadership also enhances performance through structured rewards and accountability, while autocratic leadership, though occasionally beneficial, has a weaker and sometimes negative impact due to its restrictive nature. The study highlights the need for a balanced leadership approach to maximize employee motivation and productivity. It offers valuable insights for managers, HR professionals, and policymakers in developing effective leadership strategies to enhance organizational performance.
