Abstract
Abstract
This study investigates the influence of Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) skills on the academic performance of Electrical Engineering students at Ekiti State University. A descriptive survey design was adopted with 75 respondents selected from a population of 93. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including multiple regression. The results revealed that technical, vocational, and interaction skills acquired during SIWES significantly enhance students’ academic performance. It was concluded that SIWES effectively bridges the gap between classroom learning and practical application. The study recommends improved supervision, extended duration, better placement strategies, and prompt payment of student stipends.
